Animated Portraits

Give these animated GIFs an opportunity to coexist alongside conventional portraiture in an art studio and watch as students become engaged and gravitate towards this instantly recognizable yet promising form of art. Students explored combining animation techniques with a selfie to create these dynamic portraits. They sit somewhere between a short animated narrative and a still image photograph. There were limitless possibilities and endless sessions of sharing in each other’s process.
