Photo Albums as Inspiration

Our photo albums contain thousands of images representing many facets of our lives. They range from simple snapshots capturing transient moments to carefully composed photographs, showing thoughtful attention to framing, lighting, and the presence of key subjects. Students scrolled through their personal albums looking for significant moments and key compositional elements that could serve as inspiration for a painting. The resulting works demonstrate a variety of approaches, from realistic depictions of the reference photo to bold explorations of abstraction.
